Painting outdoors on location, known as plein air painting gives the artist the extra dimension of being there. Great French impressionistic painters Monet and Renoir were plein air artists.
"I stand before the easel for hours at a time, in sand, among rocks, and on hillsides. As time passes, the canvas and paint-filled brush assume a life of their own, reflecting the sounds and colors of my surroundings."
